8TH INTERNATIONAL OENOLOGICAL COMPETITION:
‘EMOZIONI DAL MONDO: MERLOT E CABERNET
INSIEME’

For the eighth year the Emotions from the
World by Vignaioli Bergamaschi will be back
by that time.
The seventh edition has taken place from
13th to 15th October 2011 and has been one
of the most international and
representatives of all the previous ones
(201 were the samples presented by producers
of 15 countries; the samples were tasted by
63 judges coming from 18 different countries
all over the world). The last edition set
Emozioni dal Mondo record as the
International Competition with the better
relationship between the number of samples
tasted and the number of judges tasting.
In the last days, Vignaioli Bergamaschi,
which is the organizer and promoter of the
competition, set the 2012 dates: 18th to
20th October in Bergamo.
The city will host the annual international
meeting between Merlot, Cabernet and their
Blends and judges (wine makers, producers,
journalists, bloggers..) from all over the
world as part of a complex and ambitious
programme of promotion of Bergamo and its
products, first of all its Wine: Valcalepio
DOC, which is a blend of Merlot and
Cabernet.
The main aim of this edition will be the
improvement of the yet excellent results of
the last Competition, characterized by an
average rate of 83 points on 100 for the 200
samples admitted to tasting.
‘This means that the producers decides to
present at ‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e
Cabernet Insieme’ only highly selected
wines’ declared Sergio Cantoni, director of
Vignaioli Bergamaschi, ‘83/100 represents
the score to gain the silver medal according
to OIV (Organisation International de la
Vigne et du Vin) regulation’.
During the 2011 edition, were assigned 56
gold medals and 2 great gold medals (with a
score of more than 92/100).

The wines awarded with a medal at the 2011

Vinitaly (25-28 March Verona) at the Special
Tasting Desk ‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e
Cabernet Insieme’ in PalaExpo Lombardia.
