“THE EMOTIONS OF ‘MERLOT AND CABERNET TOGETHER’ ARE BACK”

Save the date: on 14th October 2011 the Seventh International Oenological Competition‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme’ will start again.

The seventh edition of ‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme’ is going to assure surprises and lots of news.
It is the seventh year the competition, organized by Vignaioli Bergamaschi s.c.a in cooperation with Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio, gains the patronage of Organization Mundial de la Vigne et du Vin, and of the Italian Ministry for Agriculture. This means that ‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme’ is going to be the only oenological competition devoted to Merlot, Cabernet and their blend in the world for the seventh consecutive year.

The aim of 2011 edition is to improve the great results of 2010 in terms of internationality and representativity.
Here are some data about 2010 competition:
202 wines tasted produced in 21 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Malta, Peru, Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, USA, South Africa, Switzerland and Turkey);
57 gold medals awarded to wines produced all over the world: 9 to Israel, 4 to Croatia, 3 to France, 2 to Turkey and one each to South Africa, Argentina, Australia, USA, Serbia, Spain and Brazil;
32 gold medals awarded to Italian wines (8 were produced in Bergamo): 12 to Lombardia, 8 to Veneto, 3 to Abruzzo and Trentino, 2 to Sicilia and Toscana and 1 to Emilia Romagna and Friuli Venezia Giulia;
59 judges, 25 Italians and 35 foreigners original of 22 countries.

Vignaioli Bergamaschi and Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio decided to introduce their international guests to a new part of Bergamo province: the tasting committees will be working in the charming rooms of Palazzo Visconti in Brignano Gera d’Adda on Friday 14th October 2011.

The maximum aim is to improve the public presence to the Saturday events: on Saturday 15th October 2011 it will be possible to anyone the tasting of the winners of ‘Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme’.
During the morning there will be a technical-scientific conference held at the Sala Mosaico of Camera di Commercio di Bergamo (in Bergamo city centre) and during the afternoon it will be possible to taste the wines awarded with a medal in the open space under Palazzo della Ragione in Piazza Vecchia (in the centre of the old city town Bergamo).
