EMOZIONI DAL MONDO CONFIRMS ITS ROLE AS A COMPETITION WHERE NEW INTERNATIONAL WINE REALITIES SHOW UP.
The first time happened with Israel that this year confirmed its relevant role in the International Oenology Panorama. At its twelfth edition the International Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” confirms its role as cradle and showcase for the rising wine producing countries around the world.
2016 awards talk Chinese and Russian: two Countries that receive awards at their first enrollment in the competition. They both seduced the heart and palate of the 83 judges from 27 countries that gathered in 7 committees of 12 members each tasted the 236 sample enrolled in this year competition. The tasting sessions took place in the charming Palazzo Maestri (Cenate Sopra – Bergamo). The committees of “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” once more were recognized as those with the highest rate between the number of judges and that of wine samples tasted among the OIV international competitions.
Many countries uphold their status in wine production panorama: Croatia won 6 medals, Israel 5, Argentina, Russia, China and Turkey 3 each. Good results for Hungary and Slovenia with 2 medals each and an award to Serbia, Germany, Czech Republic, South Africa, Slovachia and Georgia.
What about Italy? The guests did win a good amount of medals: 38 on the 71 awarded Gold Medals. Among the 15 countries awarded of the 21 enrolled in the Competition, Italy won the most. To a more careful analysis we can say that 17 medals went to Lombardia (7 to Bergamo), 10 to Veneto, 3 each to Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige, two to Tuscany and 1 each to Lazio, Puglia and Abruzzo.
Bergamo was proud to announce the winner of the Italian Press Prize: a Bergamo producers, that same wine also won the Web Awarded thanks to a special blogger committee.
The press committee awarded 15 Press Prizes, 1 to each country enrolled in the competition if the total rate reached at least 85/100. 15 awards on 21 countries: that means that all the wines enrolled shared an extreme high standard.
The Web Award awarded by a committee of bloggers and web journalists represented the biggest news in 2016 edition.
We want to highlight the harmony between the committee: for example, for what concerns Italy all the committees awarded the same wine. A wine produced in Bergamo convinced all: the technicians that awarded it with the gold medal, the journalists that chose it for the Italian Press Prize and the bloggers that selected it for the Web Award.
“Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is a unique competition worldwide.
First of all is the only international competition focusing on Merlot and Cabernet officially recognized by OIV worldwide. It is also the international competition with the highest rate between the number of judges and that of samples tasted.
“Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is also the competition of the innovation: fist with the idea of the Consumers’ Committee, then with that of the Web Committee.
It is the only International Competition that ends with a technical symposium with international speakers.
Great attention was given to the technical symposium “A sustainable view on viticulture and oenology”. The symposium took place on Saturday 15th October 2016 at Bergamo Chamber of Commerce Palace and the speakers were relevant name in international oenology and viticulture panorama.
